Red Rock Hollow
Why You Should Visit
Tucked away downstream from Old Man's Cave, Red Rock Hollow ends at two seasonal waterfalls, the more impressive of which is shown above. Red Rock Hollow is located off of Queer Creek, downstream from the park's famous Cedar Falls. The crowds at Hocking Hills can get a bit overwhelming sometimes (5 million visitors per year!), but you'll likely get this waterfall all to yourself, largely due to how difficult it is to reach. 1/2 a mile up Queer Creek from here is the 90-foot multi-tiered Parish Rocks Falls.
Getting to Red Rock Hollow
The approximate address of the trailhead is 21300 OH-664, South Bloomingville, OH 43152. There is a pull-off next to a Hocking State Forest sign where Steele Road crosses over Queer Creek, this is where your hike will begin. The trail will follow Queer Creek east towards Old Man's Cave. The trail is quite worn and overgrown, so Carey recommends using a topographic hiking map such as Backcountry Navigator. After 1/2 a mile, you'll come across the entrance to Red Rock Hollow. If you follow the orange blazes up the creek, you'll reach the hollow's double waterfall. If you continue past Red Rock Hollow for another 1/2 mile, you'll reach the entrance to the hollow Parish Rocks Falls is in.
